Published in August 2024, "Genomes Without Borders: Bridging Gaps in Health Equity" was the first blog post I wrote for New England Biolabs (NEB). This blog highlights Dr. Claudia Gonzaga-Jauregui, one of the principal investigators at the International Laboratory for Humane Genome Research (Laboratorio Internacional de Investigación sobre el Genoma Humano, LIIGH).

Gonzaga-Jauregui is a passionate scientific education and literacy advocate, especially in Mexico and, more broadly, Latin America. This includes work with the Mexican Network for Rare Diseases (ReMexER) and Collaborative for Rare Diseases in the Caribbean and Latin America (CEPCAL).

Shortly before I started working at NEB, Gonzaga-Jauregui did a company seminar and podcast, which this blog highlighted. This post (and all blogs written for NEB) was formatted by me and designed to break text up through the use of graphics (illustrated by Tasha José) and the use of pulled-out quotes.

"Genomes Without Borders" highlights the melding together of my backgrounds in science and in feature articles, creating a piece amplifying both Gonzaga-Jauregui and the importance of science access.
